Sustainable Organization: What is it?

Anyone else go to grab the cereal only to find that your husband didn’t put it back in the right spot? Or do you ask your kids to clean up the playroom and find that they tossed everything into a closet and shut the door? Frustrating, right?!

While we can’t create perfect husbands or kids, we can help you develop a sustainable method of organization. Sustainable organization is a system you can sustain over time. Even on chaotic days, you can either keep up with it or it is easy to get back on track if you get off a little bit.

So let’s talk about an example of unsustainable vs. sustainable organization. We love the look of color coordinated playrooms, but do you really think that your 6 year old is going to keep their legos organized by color? That would be a no, we hate to break it to ya. Children aren’t going to take the time to sort by color, which makes this an unsustainable system. However, a 6 year old would be able to learn how to put all the legos in a specified box. That box may be a jumbled cluster of different colored legos, but the point is to eliminate chaos - not achieve perfection.

Ok, so you may be thinking, “Great, that’s easy enough. I’ll just get plastic bins for all the things!” Well, yes… you could! Bins are great. There are so many kinds of out there. The tricky part is making sure you select the right type for your space and thinking through how bins would fit with your closet or furniture that exist already. It’s no good to spend your hard earned money on pretty plastic bins all to find out the method you chose isn’t compatible with your space or lifestyle.

That’s where we can help! By hiring an organization company, you protect your investment. Stored Simply steps into your space without bias. We listen to your needs and desires, assess your space, and make a plan that would be the most sustainable for you.
